Growing as a Co-Laborer with God In World Missions (Spiral Bound)
Growing as a Co-Laborer with God In World Missions (Spiral Bound)
Foreword by Dr. Clifford Clark. This book contains four lessons, designed to be taught four weeks prior to the Faith Promise Commitment Sunday. This book will show the giver that he will become a channel of blessing to those who are benefited from his investments. In turn God makes the receivers of his gifts a channel of blessing back to the giver. You will experience new excitement and spiritual growth in your life as you learn and apply the principles found in this book.
SUMMARY OF THE LESSONS ON FAITH PROMISE GIVING Growing As A Co-Laborer With God In World Missions This is a summary of the four lessons which could cause a child of God to keep "growing" as a co-laborer with God in world missions. God commanded his children to continue to grow in II Peter 3:18. The statement, "grow in grace" means to grow in enabling ability. When a child of God stops growing, he begins to digress and go backward. LESSON ONE One of the first lessons that Jesus taught the apostles was to lay up treasures for themselves in heaven. 1. Abraham was the first child of God to give tithes to Melchizedek, who represents Jesus. (Genesis 14:20) 2. Jacob demonstrated the amount that one should purpose when giving by promising a tenth part. (Genesis 28:22) 3. Tithing was practiced 400 years before the law was given to Moses and Israel. (Leviticus 27:30) 4. We know that Jesus tithed because he commanded tithing in Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42. He also fulfilled the law, which means he obeyed every part of it. (Matthew 5:17-18) 5. God talks to his children in Malachi 3:10 as a loving Father, and asks them to prove Him (give Him a chance to see if He can make 90% go further than keeping 100%). 6. He that learns to sow (invest) bountifully will reap bountifully in this life and in the ages to come. (II Corinthians 9:6) 7. The first lesson is not whether a child of God will tithe. It is whether he will be obedient or disobedient to God. LESSON TWO Dr. Wilkins placed lesson two in the book to illustrate how the devil shoots doubts into every Christian's mind so he will not obey the Lord and grow. He also wanted to give a clear definition of what Faith Promise means. 1. Faith Promise means that a person trusts God to do through him something that he could not do by himself. 2. The child of God realizes that God plainly states it gives Him pleasure to bless and help His children. 3. God has unlimited ways to supply you with your Faith Promise offerings. 4. My lifetime testimony is that God tests my faith at times by waiting to the last minute or even going past the time of giving; but He has never failed me. He is not a respecter of people, and will never fail you. LESSON THREE Lesson three is to give you more insight on how God will bring you joy and confidence as He helps you see what your faith giving accomplishes. 1. Your faith giving causes other people to become very thankful to God. (II Corinthians 9:11) 2. Your faith giving causes others to praise God. (II Corinthians 9:13) 3. Your faith giving is an investment into the lives of people who win other people to the Lord. This causes your investment to multiply. ( II Corinthians 9:10) 4. The omnipresent Holy Spirit causes people you have helped accept Christ to pray for you in your trials and difficulties. ( II Corinthians 9:14) 5. When a child of God is obedient in investing in world missions, God has promised to supply his every need. (II Corinthians 9:3) There is no such promise to His child who disobeys Him. 6. In heaven, you come to the, attention of God, not because of your need, but because of your giving which caused people to praise the Lord. LESSON FOUR Some people give up their homes and families in order to obey God. The Great Commission is not just to pastors or the specially gifted. It is to all of His children.. Every child of God is obligated to share equally in the responsibility of world missions. 1. God has promised that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved from Hell. 2. However, how can they hear without a messenger? 3. Our part of God's plan for world missions is to give sacrificially in order for the missionary to tell the sinner of God's grace. If we do not do our part, then the missionary cannot go and the sinner dies in his sins. 4. God's simple plan is for you to pray and ask Him how much He will supply to you for the purpose of giving it back to Him as an investment in world missions. 5. If the figure seems too great, keep praying about it until you have perfect peace that it is what God wants you to give. Then trust Him to help you. 6. God will bring everyone's work into judgment because He is keeping records, which will be related as each person appears before Him to give account. Pastor we know this book will be a blessing to you and your people. This book will help build the faith of your people, and help to lay up treasures in Heaven.
